It’s not uncommon to find troops of Howler monkeys in search of tender young figs or the leaves of the Monkey Plum tree you might also encounter a River Otter hunting. The Northern Jacana is often perched on an island of Water Hyacinth looking for insects and miniature shrimp and the caiman is quietly waiting for its next meal to swim by.

This tour is a three hour trip into the back water lagoons and creeks of Tortuguero National Park. Your boat is equipped with an ice chest with water and if you’d like to have additional beverages in the boat you can ask your guide to stock the ice chest with your favorite drinks (at additional cost).

Be sure to bring your binoculars (we highly recommend water proof 8 x 32) and your bird book. Two of the most important things to bring to Costa Rica are a pair of BINOCULARS and a field guide (we recommend Birds of Costa Rica). They are a must for getting a closer look at wildlife and are not available for rent in Costa Rica.

On your way back to the lodge, visit to the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC) Museum to learn about the Atlantic Green sea turtle. There will also be time to wander on the deserted beach (swimming is discouraged for safety reasons) where thousands of green sea turtles come to nest from June through October (there are special night excursions available when in season). Learn how to properly store coffee and brew a perfect cappuccino. Observe how experts distinguish good coffees from great ones – and why they ignore their mothers’ warnings about slurping.  After lunch, land transfer to your hotel in San José, rest of the day free. Farewell dinner tonight. Overnight at Hotel Presidente. (B,L,D)(NG)

TESTIMONIAL

As you think about how we planned and fulfilled your Costa Rica vacation...

What happened that fascinated, delighted, inspired, amazed or enlightened -- something that might become a lifetime memory?
THE KNOWLEDGE AND ENTHUSIASM OF OUR GUIDE, MARIELLA, AND THE DRIVER (ROBERTO? RODRIGUEZ?) WAS CONTAGEOUS .... THEY, ALONG WITH THE OUR TRAVELERS, MADE THE TRIP A SHEER JOY!!

What surprised you by going beyond the hopes you had based on our site or what you read and heard before hand?... ATTENTION TO DETAIL, PERSONAL CARE/SERVICE, QUALITY/QUANTITY OF WILDLIFE AND PLANT LIFE WE RECEIVED

...and what fell short of your expectations?

Did the trip change your feelings about those you traveled with?  I WENT SOLO & WAS APPREHENSIVE ABOUT A "GROUP" EXPERIENCE ~THE GROUP WAS AMAZING ~A SMALL GROUP, INTERNATIONAL, VERY INTERESTED IN THE ECO LIFE - I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM THEM ... LOVED IT!  ALSO, MARIELLA AND THE GROUP WERE GREAT WHEN UNDERSTANDING I WOULD WANT TO DO SOME THINGS ON MY OWN/NOT ALWAYS BE WITH THE GROUP - MY INDEPENDENCE   WAS RESPECTED AND SUPPORTED.

What issue beforehand almost decided you to not travel with us? BEING WITH A GROUP ...

What were the few most important things that decided you to go with us? NADYA - THE TRIP COORDINATOR WAS VERY RESPONSIVE, SERVICE ORIENTED AND GAVE ME THE FLEXIBILITY TO WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO SIGN UP (I WAS ALREADY IN COSTA RICA AND UNSURE IF I WOULD WANT TO DO THE TRIP ON MY OWN OR WITH A GORUP)
What Costa Rica Expeditions people exceeded or fell short of your expectations, and in what ways?
ALL THOSE I MENTIONED - MARIELLA, NADYA, THE DRIVER ... PLUS THE SERVICE/SUPPORT AT YOUR PROPERTIES WAS GREAT, TOO!

What would you say to a friend if you wanted to persuade them to choose us when they come toCosta Rica?
I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED YOU TO THREE PEOPLE ... I'D SAY EVERYTHING I SAID ABOVE!

Thanks again for your feedback!

THANK YOU AND THANKS TO YOUR TEAM!!!
Judy Scheffel March 2010

Hi Marco,

Just a note to let you know what a wonderful time my father and I had on our Feb 23 (Costa Rica Connoisseur) trip.  The itinerary was wonderful, the people fantastic and the scenery and wildlife amazing. A special thanks to you, Luis and Ramon. The only thing I regret is that I didn't tour the Pacific coast. I hope to return to CR in a few years so that I can do that.

I referred a friend of mine to check out your trips and her name is Sue Toms.

If you remember, let me know when your baby is born.

Pura Vida

Regards,

Meril
